Welcome to SFU's India Initiative

The significance of India's growing economic, political and socio-cultural presence on an international scale inspired Simon Fraser University's India Initiative; a strategic framework to guide academic programming, support relevant research, and deepen community engagement. 

Since 2006, the India Initiative has created collaborative opportunities for students, scholars, researchers and businesses (in both BC, Canada and India) to engage in projects which support joint-academic/research initiatives, practicum and co-op placements, student recruitment and exchanges, as well programs which support business/trade relations.

 

SFU’s BC-India Mobility Initiative – Accelerating Collaborations

Through the generous support of Western Economic Diversification Canada, SFU is accelerating its linkages with India, in particular, focusing on mobility programs and projects that support the clean energy, life sciences, new media and film sectors. 

With the objective of building strong ties between BC and India, the BC-India Mobility Initiative allows scholars and executives from India to visit and conduct teaching, research or knowledge-sharing activities, supports the placement of SFU students in India, and the development of series of industry workshops.
